Brow Head, 'Empress Villas', was originally owned by Vickers Armstrong (now known as BAE Systems) & once housed top management & other famous people such as Barnes Wallace, the man who created the 'bouncing bomb'. Barnes Wallace stayed in Barrow-in-Furness during the early war years. By popular demand, we now enforce a no smoking policy within the hotel guest rooms and main public areas. Smoking on the premises is no longer allowed, but smoking in the foyer and outside the main entrance is still permitted.
