The majestic castle building overlooks Ryde Esplanade and the harbour, with views across the Solent. The Castle is believed to have been commissioned by Henry VIII, around 1540, to defend the Spithead, Southampton Water and The Solent against the threat of a Spanish invasion. A mischievous, but friendly, spirit is rumoured to be a permanent Castle resident. We offer delicious bar meals and snacks, and a full a la carte menu from the Brasserie. What's so special about us?
